Wind in the Willow
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The wind in the willow
Whispers my name
Wistfully murmuring
Come home again

To the place you loved
When you were a girl
Where the wind in the willow
Ruffled your curl.

The swing on the porch
Sways to and fro
And the wind in the willow
Still hears the cock crow.

The barn paint has faded
Grapevine runs wild
But the wind in the willow
Remembers the child.

When soft falls the rain
And the day takes flight
The wind in the willow
Weeps through the night.

The family is gone
Nothing's the same
Still, the wind in the willow
Whispers my name.

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
