My Favorite Child

You are my favorite, I said to my firstborn,

My Angel sent from the LORD,

So loving and sweet,

So let’s go to sleep

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my second,

My lovable smookums,

Cuddly and tender,

So let’s go make something in the blender,

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my third,

My sweet smelling rose,

Beautiful black hair

So let’s go get…. an éclair.

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my fourth,

My sunflower girl,

Quiet spirit and very gentle,

So let’s go be sentimental

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my fifth,

My worshiping sunshine,

You make me so happy,

So let’s go make some shrimp scampi

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my sixth,

My little man, turtle, is his name,

I prayed for you, my loving son,

So let’s go have some fun

But please don’t tell the others.

You are my favorite, I said to my last,

My princess butterfly,

You were the best surprise,

So let’s go… up to the skies

But please don’t tell the others.

Mom, tell them who your favorite is

My sisters don’t believe,

Tell them I’m your favorite son.

Oh no, it’s begun,

So…. let’s see…..where can I run?

I said, “Not to tell the others!”

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

1 Peter 2:9

About the Poet
I'm a wife, full time mother of 7, and a grandmother of 1. I have served in the children's ministry for 14 years. I enjoy sharing Christ with others and writing poems. I believe according to the Scriptures that we should share with one another the things of the Lord and the things of the heart. The author of Ephesians tells us to speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:19-20) You can read more of my poems at Dinky's Hum Drum Journal @ www.bridget247.blogspot.com I hope that you will be ministered and inspired by the poems that God has put on my heart. My favorite quote is: Gods past faithfulness deserves our present trust
