Good Things
Wednesday, June 18, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
5 You (O Lord) prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. - Psalm 23:5-6(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD 4 He (God) will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. - Revelation 21:4(New International Version). A QUOTE:
My friend, I would urge you to consider that there is nothing in this world more valuable than the Word of God. - D. James Kennedy -

A LOOK BACK:
The beginning of my marriage happened on May 25, 1946. I married a girl that I learned to love after my return from the United States Army on January 16, 1946. I changed her name from Flonnie Manry to Flonnie Christian. To our marriage were born three children, two girls and a boy. Our children's names are Treva, June and Ronnie. My dear Flonnie passed from this life on February 24, 2008.
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 91 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and our nephew, Denton. I went to the post office. I took my afternoon nap with Smokey and Tony. I put treats outside for the cats at around 6:05 p.m. and sat with then for about 15 minutes. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
My cats are fine. None are with me at present. Smokey has been here with me but left out a little while ago. Emmy, Leo, Rascal and Tony have also been around since I started the Good Things. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 2 "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. Each person is a unique expression of God's loving design. - From Our Daily Bread -
Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 91 degrees. I had lunch by myself today at Taco Bobs. Charley had an appointment with a doctor in Muskogee. I didn't go since riding in a car a lot makes me tired and he said he didn't need me. I went to the post office. I went by Walgreen's to leave a prescription, then to the Petsense store, then to Walmart. By that time I was really tired so I took my afternoon nap with Smokey and Tony. I put treats outside for the cats at around 6:05 p.m. and sat with them for a few minutes. Thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for your emails.
The cats are fine. Rascal is the only one with me at present. He is on a desk near me grooming himself. I have seen all my kitties this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett

Monday, June 16, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
23 "Am I only a God nearby" declares the Lord, "and not a God far away? 24 Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the Lord "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 23:23-24(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. - Proverbs 16:3(New International Version).

People with horse sense know when to say nay. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The Heavenly Father's arms never tire of holding His children. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 91 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. Taylor was our waitress today. I saw Bill. He arrived earlier and ate with his wife today. I went by Country Mart for a couple of items, then I stopped at a place to get air put in my tire, then on to City Hall to pay my water bill and finally to the post office. I had a nap this afternoon. Smokey and Tony slept on the bed with me during the entire time of my nap. Smokey got up with me but Tony stayed in bed quite a while longer. I put food out for the cats around 6:05 p.m. and sat with them for a while. I missed doing the Good Things last night and I heard from a few people telling me they were missed. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
I heard this afternoon about the passing of another good friend, Jo Cox. She lost her husband, Paul, some time ago. Jo was living in Tulsa near her daughter. She and Paul were former good active members of our church.
The cats are fine. Smokey has been with me but he just left. He has been staying close to me a lot lately. Rascal and Tony have also been here since I started the Good Things. Emmy and Leo are in front lying on the hood of the van. Leo jumped onto the van again tonight from the top of the house. I have seen every one of my cats this evening. Lucy was also here a short time ago.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett

Saturday, June 14, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. - Psalm 73:26(New International Version).

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Compassion is understanding the troubles of others, coupled with an urgent desire to help. - From Reminisce Magazine -
To honor our King, His praises we sing. - From Our Daily Bread -
I hope my achievements in life shall be these . . . that I fought for what was right and fair, that I took risks for things that mattered, that I helped those in need, that I left the earth a better place because of what I did and who I was. - From Go For It -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 85 degrees. Kathy and Darren mowed my lawn today and Kathy cleaned my house while I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office and then by Memory Gardens Cemetery before I came home. I took my nap this afternoon. Smokey was with me part of the time. I put treats out for the cats at around 6:20 p.m. I sat with them for just a few minutes. I watched the Lawrence Welk program at 7:00 p.m. It was from 1964 and was the last program they made in black and white.
My comments about the blackberries touched the memory button for several of my email friends who sent me comments. Others just liked to hear about days gone by. All I will say about the past tonight is that I had my earthly beginning on August 23, 1925, in a house in the country about five miles southwest of a little village called Ashland, Oklahoma. I lived on a farm for the first eighteen years of my life, part of this time during the Great Depression. These days on the farm helped to shape my life. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Smokey is lying on a desk near me at present. Rascal has been lying on a desk near me but just left a short time ago. All the cats are accounted for tonight.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. Everett

Friday, June 13, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
12 Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor. - Ecclesiastes 7:12(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. - Proverbs 18:10(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. - Eleanor Roosevelt -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Let God's Word fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your life. - From Our Daily Bread -
There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. - From Reminisce Magazine -
You bring something beautiful to the world, something no one else can offer. - From Go For It -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 85 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Pastor JT. Michelle was our waitress today. I went to the post office. I took a nap. I think Smokey was with me part of the time and Emmy was on a shelf. I put treats and food outside for the cats at around 6:05 p.m. I sat with them for just a few minutes. I have some blackberry vines at the southeast front corner of my house. My wife always wanted these vines cut down every year but I just don't feel like doing it now. The blackberries are getting ripe. I picked a bowl full of them this evening just before I started the Good Things. It brought back memories of a time when my mother with two little boys (Charley and Everett) would walk at least two miles to pick black berries on the halves for a man by the name of Moses Ellison. Our dog named Bruno would usually go with us. We would give Mr. Ellison and his wife half of what picked for letting us pick berries. My mother would then can them to make cobblers in the winter months. Mr. Ellison was a farmer, a blacksmith, had a sorghum mill and was also a preacher. He would preach once a month at the little Bohannon community church where we lived. A different preacher would preach each Sunday once a month. I will give the blackberries to some lady to make a cobbler. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Smokey is asleep on a desk near me. Rascal was also lying on a desk but he has now gone elsewhere. He will be back in a few minutes. Cats are really curious creatures. I left the windows rolled down on my van this afternoon since it was so warm. I was sitting in my recliner chair looking out the front patio door where my van was parked. I saw Itty Bitty jump up to one of the windows and go in the van and explore for a while and then get out of the van. A little later, Emmy jumped up to the window and entered the van and also explored it before coming out. Nosy creatures. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a nice Saturday. Everett
