Que's Occasional Views
by Quentin Clingerman, Calabash, NCJan. 16, 2012
7:46 A.M. Temperature: 32%F; Humidity: 75, Forecast: sunny. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday: A reminder that there is still much to accomplish in achieving racial, religious, and ethnic harmony in this country (and around the world). It is obvious that there is great hostility among ethnic and religious groups. The news daily carries that message. Tolerance does not mean agreement but it means some understanding and empathy with others unlike ourselves. Those of us who call ourselves Christian should be out there in front calling for end of hostilities and demonstrating love toward those of other racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Christ taught that we were to love not only others like ourselves but even our enemies. I would encourage you to take time this holiday to meditate on these issues and pray for those different from yourself. Que

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
33 But all who listen to me (Wisdom) will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” - Proverbs 1:33(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6(New International Version).
A QUOTE
You can be happy in the midst of sufferings if you are in God's will, but you can have agony in good health out of His will. - Billy Graham -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Today's preparation determines tomorrow's achievement. - From Reminisce Magazine -
It's not so much the load you carry as how you carry it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 60 degrees and a low this morning of 32 degrees. My housecleaning lady came at 11:15 a.m. and cleaned my house while I went to have lunch with Charley. I then went to the post office. I took my nap in early afternoon. Little Girl napped with me today. She sleeps with me some days after the cleaning lady has been here. I went to a Dollar General Store at around 3:30 p.m. I put treats and food outside for the cats at 4:15 p.m. If you don't receive Good Things tomorrow night don't worry. I may have too much to do after I get home from church since it will be the night to put out the garbage.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is lying in front of the heater. Rascal is resting in the living room in a rocker tonight. The others have been around this evening.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday! I will see you next time.

7:41 A.M. 31.7% F, 69% humidity. Forecast, sunny! "All is well with my soul!" A wonderful statement from a hymn which expresses my state of being today. Praise the Lord! Trusting God is the only way to live. Ancient wise men found it so and God is no different today than millions of years ago! For He is timeless, never changing. That is stability worth considering if you have not! Blessings wished for sll this day. Que

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. - Psalm 84:11(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
19 He (the Lord) fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. - Psalm 145:19(New International Version).
A QUOTE
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. - Harriet Beecher Stowe -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The virtues of being punctual are largely offset by having to wait for people who aren't. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 57 degrees and a low temperature of 17 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went by the post office. I took my nap in early afternoon and Smokey stayed with me today as well as Emmy. I have been taking a cold the past two days and I haven't felt quite up to par, however I did go to Walmart at about 3:15 p.m. I put out food and treats for the cats at 4:15 p.m. I washed and dried a load of clothes this evening. I have had e-mails from Geneva, Pastor J. T. and my granddaughter, Carissa, concerning the Good Things. I have also had several comments about the picture that I sent of my grandson, Bryant and me. I really appreciate all the e-mails and comments. At Taco Bob's today, our waitress, Mellisa, commented on the Good Things saying she liked them.
The cats are fine. Little Girl and Rascal are in the same place they were last night if you can remember. Rascal seldom takes a nap with me in the day time but he snuggles with me most every night shortly after I go to bed. Itty Bitty has given me some attention today. I have had some fellowship with all of them today. Lucy also came in for a little while this morning. Tony has been over a couple of times.
I hope everyone has a nice Saturday! I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD,br /> 1 The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. - Psalm 97:1(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” - 2 Timothy 2:19(New International Version).

I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders. - Jewish Proverb -
Nothing lasts forever; even the mightiest river runs out to sea. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Your mind can hold only one thought at a time - make it positive and constructive. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
The weather showed us today that we are in winter. It has been a cold sunny day with a high temperature of 37 degrees and a low temperature this morning of 25 degrees. The wind blowing from the north today made it feel much colder than the temperature. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office for my mail and then to Save-A-Lot grocery store. I had a nap in early afternoon with Emmy cat. I put food out for the outside cats at 4:30 p.m. I worked in my office room for an hour or so mainly shredding some old records and throwing some old records in the trash. I didn't hear from anyone today. I do the Good Things in hopes that the scriptures , quote and thoughts might help someone and I know they do help some people. If at any time you would like to be dropped from the Good Things for any reason, send me an e-mail and I will certainly understand.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is asleep on the back of the sofa and Rascal is asleep in the recliner. The cats have been staying inside most of the day because of the cold weather. Lucy came in the house this afternoon for a few minutes but didn't stay long and then left out again. She knows how to survive in the cold weather since she has been surviving for several years. Tony came over a couple of times today for some of our food.
I hope everyone has a nice Friday! I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett.
