Nan's Calendar
by Nan Forehand, Statesville, NCAfter my last post entitled "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff", I received the following comment from a very special person. I included the Golden Rule at the bottom of the message and of all the information I shared that day, the part that stood out the most for the reader was The Golden Rule. I so appreciate the interest and the profound statement that I want to share it with you today. Jesus, indeed, has a way of turning things around and upside down. I hope you enjoy the quote. The reader has given us a lot to think about. Have a wonderful day! Love, Nan
"If we could only have one rule, "The Golden Rule" would probably suffice, if only we would follow it.
Some form of the golden rule has been around for a very long time. Way back in the 50's, I was doing a research paper for a philosophy class. During the research, I discovered that Buddha had said, "Don't do to others what you wouldn't want them to do for you."
In my ignorance, I remember thinking, 'he stole that from Jesus.' Then, I discovered that the Buddha was born about 624 BC and that Buddha had stated his version of the golden rule in the negative, centuries before Jesus put it in the positive." Bob
Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OKGOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
7 All he (the Lord) does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy. 8 They are forever true,
to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. - Psalm 111:7-8(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. 13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. - 1 John 5:12-13(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
Many of us make excuses for our emotional pain rather than looking at the problem that's causing it. - Sheri Rose Shepherd -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
A pessimist sees less in anything; an optimist sees more in everything. - From Reminisce Magazine - Life is not so short but that there is always time enough for courtesy. - From Reminisce Magazine -

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 96 degrees. Low temperature this morning was 79 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. The title of Pastor J. T.'s message was "The Heart of The Love of God." I had lunch at home. I took a nap this afternoon. Smokey was with me most of the time. There was no church tonight due to plumbing problems at the church. I sat out back with the cats at 7:00 p.m. for over an hour and read while the cats rested and did other cute things. The picture tonight is Chris(grandson), Treva(daughter) and son(Ron). The cats are fine. Most of them are outside at present. At 10:20 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 88 degrees. I will see you next time.

Nan's Calendar
by Nan Forehand, Statesville, NCAs I was going through some of my books this morning, I came across Don't Sweat The Small Stuff With Your Family written by Richard Carlson, Ph.D. I want to share some of the topics of the book with you. These things are important to remember, regardless of the number in your family. There are a total of 100 topics. I will select random topics today to give you a taste of the flavor of the book.
Set a positive emotional climate
Give yourself ten extra minutes
Buy something new, let something go
Allow "white space" in your calendar
Stop exchanging horror stories
Fill your home with evidence of love
Don't let money get you down
Let go of your expectations
When someone asks you how you are, don't emphasize how busy you are
Don't go to bed mad
Ask yourself "why should I be exempt from the rest of the human race?"
Keep in mind, as within, so without
Keep your "thought attacks" in check
Look for incremental improvement
Think of something you did right today
Discover simple pleasure
Be an example of peace
Express gratitude for your home
Treat your family members as if this were the last time you were going to see them
(this last one is from the Bible): Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It's the Golden Rule.
I remember the song Tim McGraw and Scotty McCreery sang together on the finale of American Idol a few weeks ago "Live like you were dying". Have a great day! I love you! Nan
Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OK GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. - Psalm 126:5-6(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. - Proverbs 3:7-8(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
Jesus seeks after people, especially those who have lost all hope.
- Craig Taylor -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Even the easiest thing becomes difficult when you do it reluctantly. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death. - From Reflecting God -
Fear blinds; faith opens eyes, hearts and minds. - From Reflecting God
- When life is dark, remember that this is the only time you can enjoy the beauty of the stars. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 100 degrees. I am sure this has been the hottest day of this year. Low temperature this morning was 70 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I came by the post office to pick up my mail. I took a nap with Smokey. Later in the afternoon I went to Lowes for a filter for my air purifier. Since I was close to Walmart, I stopped there for some items. I sat outside with the cats about 6:15 p.m. for about an hour and read. The cat picture tonight is Smokey. The cats are fine, going in and out as they please. Leo and Rascal are lying in the floor here in the den. At 9:40 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 88 degrees. I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett.
