GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

14 Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
- Psalm 34:14(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD

3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.  - 2 Peter 1:3-4(New Living Translation).

A QUOTE

You are never alone.  In your heart of hearts, in that place where no two people are ever alike, God is waiting for you.  And what you never dared hope for springs to life.  - Brother Roger of Taize -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER

It takes a lifetime to grow an old friend.
- From Reminisce Magazine -

Why can't all life's problems happen when we're teenagers and we know everything?
- From Reminisce Magazine -

NOTES

Today has been a sunny cold day with high temperatures in the mid thirties.  I have been home alone all day.  Late last evening, my cousin, Audie, sent me a Christmas meal which I heated for lunch today.  Today, Audie's grandson, Dale Keheay, came by and picked up my newspaper out by the street and brought to my door.  I still have ice all over my front porch so I am afraid I might fall if I try to walk on it.  I think it is better to be safe than sorry.  My son, Ron, was going to come over this afternoon to put rock salt on the porch but he was having a problem finding a store with rock salt.  We decided to wait until tomorrow and if he can't find the salt we will put some kitty litter on the ice.  Be sure to read the poem that I will share with you at the end of this e-mail.

The cats are fine.  Most of them have gone out a little while today except the two 8 month old boys, Beau and Leo.  I have kept them inside.  Also, Little Girl never goes outside unless I am outside. I think they are all in now except Friendly and I am sure that she will be in soon.  Beau is in my computer chair and I am in a folding chair with a cushion in it.

At 6:45 p.m. skies are mostly clear with a temperature of 28 degrees.  I will see you next time.

Here is a poem written by my niece, Lucille Hails, about her husband, Charles Hails, whom she lost several years ago.  I can certainly relate to this poem about my dear Flonnie.

                                                    LONELY IN A CROWD

Alone and lonely in a crowded room---
A smile on my lips, though not in my heart.
I talk with others, but how can they know
That when I lost you, my world fell apart.

There's no longer joy awaiting the dawn---
Only sleepless nights to dread a new day.
I'm no longer held in your sweet embrace,
Hearing, "I love you"----since you went away.

Our lives had become so deeply entwined---
We shared the same thoughts---our hearts beat as one.
Being together was such a delight.
You were my anchor---I was your sun.

Way back in our minds, we knew that, someday,
One of us would get the call to "go home".
We chose not to face what might lie ahead:
But savored our days before they were gone.

We enjoyed our dreams---we treasured our love.
Still the "time"did come---the "call" was for you.
Your soul was ready---your body was tired.
You're now with the Lord: but what do I do?

Now, back in that room where laughter rings out,
The crowds mill around, feeling all is well.
My smile covers up a sad, broken heart---
Alone and lonely: though no one can tell.

In sincere Christian Love, Everett.
