GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. - Proverbs 28:1(New International Version).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. - 1 Peter 4:8-9(New International Version).

A QUOTE:

Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation. - D. Elton Trueblood -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:

Don't fret over what you'd do with your life if you lived it over again; get busy with what you have left. - From Reminisce Magazine -

May your love of life be the enchantment that turns insignificant things into joys. - From I Wish For You -

The storms of life remind us to take shelter in the loving arms of our Savior. - From Our Daily Bread -

NOTES:

Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 63 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to Country Mart store for a few items and then to the post office. I started my nap this afternoon with Beau and later Friendly joined us. The light on my dash board showed that I had a low tire so at around 4:30 p.m. I drove to a place to put air in my tires. Do you know that there is not any free air any more unless you drive into a garage and have them do it? I don't like to drive into a garage for just air so I paid a dollar and put air in the tire myself. In the good old days when you had your car filled with gas, they would fill your car with gas, check your oil, clean your windshield and check your tires if you ask them to. That was all a part of the service and that is why they were called service stations. Now everything is do it yourself. After I got air, I went by Braum's and brought home my evening meal. At 6:00 p.m. I put food and treats outside for the animals. At 7:00 p.m. I watched the Lawrence Welk program from 1967. Thanks for your emails and thank you for reading the Good Things.

The cats are fine. Leo is on the back of the sofa, Rascal is in the recliner chair and Smokey just came in to check on me and is sitting in the floor looking at me. I reached down and rubbed his head. I have seen all of the cats this evening.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. Everett.

Keep Thinking The Good Thoughts!!!

LEST WE FORGET

Tom Brokaw writes about his book "The Greatest Generation Speaks:"

"Members of the World War 2 generation are, characteristically, grateful for the attention and modest about their own lives. Their children and grandchildren are eager to share the lessons and insights they heard about the lives of a generation now passing on too swiftly. I wanted to write a book about America, and in this book, America was writing back. It seems that everyone in that generation has something worthwhile to contribute. If we are to heed the past to prepare for the future, we should listen to these quiet voices of a generation that speaks to us of duty and honor, sacrifice and accomplishment."

Everett's note:

I don't need any praise for what I did but I did appreciate it when someone said "thank you" to me and most of you have already done that so no more "thank you's." I simply did what thousands of others have done for the past 239 years since we have been a country. I didn't do anything outstanding except to serve to the best of my ability. The people that take care of things at home while others go to war deserve a lot of credit also.
