Good Things
by E. Christian, McAlester, OKSaturday, May 5, 2012
GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 21 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it. 22 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 23 But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand." - Mark 13:21-23(New King James Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:34-36(New International Version).
A QUOTE
If you take the world's way, you must abandon the values of Christ. If you take Christ's way, you must abandon the values of the world. - William Barclay -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER

NOTES
I know I mentioned last night that the Good Things might rest tonight but I feel just as well doing this as sitting in my recliner. I feel pretty good tonight. The day has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 88 degrees and a low temperature of 66 degrees. My house cleaning lady came at 11:15 a.m. and cleaned my house while I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office and the cemetery. I sat outside a few minutes before I took my nap. I took my nap in early afternoon. At 4:00 p.m. I went to Country Mart store for a few items. I used several coupons which they doubled. I sat outside with the cats from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m. this evening. I am not a poet but I have tried to write a few poems. While I was sitting outside this evening I wrote a poem which I will leave at the end of the Good Things. I may try to submit it to www.wordchimes.com and see if they will use it on their website. I always appreciate your e-mails and don't feel bad if I don't answer them personally.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is here in the den with me at present. She is eating some dry food. I have seen all of the cats this evening except Leo and he will probably be in a little later. It is not unusal for him to stay out late.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday!
I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett.

Here is the poem:
AN OLD MAN AND HIS CATS.
By Everett Christian
Written May 5, 2012
He sits there every evening in the back yard lawn chair.
The setting sun reflecting on the white color of his hair.
He is all alone with his memories of days that used to be.
How he married a sweet young lady and raised their children three.
Now his sweet wife has gone to Heaven, they couldn't even say goodbye.
As God took her from her easy chair to her home up in the sky.
Sixty-two years they lived together through the sun, the rain, the snow.
Their children grew up and left them then she would watch her flowers grow.
Now he sits alone in silence, but wait what's that you see?
There's a cat in a chair beside him and another just left his knee.
There are cats of every color with names they understand.
He will keep them all forever, even to the promised land.
Someday soon he will see Jesus in that land beyond the sky.
His dear wife there to meet him where people never die.
So he sits there every evening with nothing left to do.
Just a sitting and a thinking till his earthly days are through.
