I've No excuse

I've No Excuse

“Oh God, I’ve such a weight to bear

It fills my heart with shame

Walking the path that leads nowhere

With just myself to blame

I should have known, but yet somehow

I’ve left life’s narrow road

Lord, what on earth can I do now?

To lose this heavy load

I think I know how Adam felt

When first he fell from grace

Thinking his very soul would melt

If he had seen Your face

Today my God it’s hard to pray            Nu.12:14

Through fear I’m plagued with doubt

For when I first began to stray

I thought You’d spew me out               Rev.3:16

Too often Lord I’ve ran so wild

I’ve felt Your Spirit grieve                  Eph.4;30

You say You; won’t forsake a child

But what if one should leave?

Remember how it feels on earth        Heb.2:14-18

When no-one seems to care

How hard it is to live from birth

Avoiding trap and snare                     1Pe.5:8

I know too well You love me Lord

It’s sin! You cannot stand

If now You’d strike me with Your sword

I think I’d understand

I’ve no excuse for what I’ve done

But still I’d like to live

My only hope is in Your Son

If Jesus would forgive

If I my God, were saved again

From death and hell once more

Regardless cost regardless pain

I’d keep my Father’s law

It sounds with ease! I say these things

And lightly bend the knee

But now I know salvation brings

Much more than first we see

Unlike a windy autumn day

When leaves and branches fall

No word or deed can drift away

Your eyes can see them all

With this in mind, I dare to speak

Living, serving with care

Eager each day Your face I seek

If still for me, You’re there?

Too many words have caught the breeze

But with a brand new start

I’d seek no-more this flesh to please

I’ll try with all my heart

To You I pray to You I cry

For me in Christ to live

Promising now to really try

To drink the cup You give

The talent that I hid so well

Your gift, I held from sight

I’ll execute to keep from hell

Those lost and void of Light

I’ve never said such things before

This time my heart is true

If now You let me through Life’s Door

I’ll serve no-one but You”…..

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
