On a Star-lit Night

On a Star-lit Night

On a star-filled night long ago

There was a glorious sight to behold.

Mary gave birth to God's own Son;

now a new hope had begun.

Shepherds were filled with fear

when an angel of the Lord appeared.

The angel brought good news to them

saying that the Christ-child was born in

Bethlehem.

The shepherds left their sheep right away

to go and see Jesus lying in a bed of hay.

Angels sang with tears in their eyes

when they realized

of what was to become

of God's own Son.

They sang glory to God in the highest

for the birth of this Holy Child.

Now all of mankind will be saved

                                                    because of the precious babe.
