The Call

The call

Saturday night became a little darker

when the call I expected for a couple of months

– came –

My tears fell for someone - my father -

I hadn’t seen in many years, but loved intensely.

He taught me about nature through his art

and the beauty of all art through his paintings.

I’m not sure why I didn’t follow in his steps,

like my brother did. Maybe, I didn’t have

the inspiration and courage to paint

instead of creating word pictures. It might

be time now to allow those characteristics

within me; to carry on where

my father left off.

One thing I’m sure of, is that throughout

this week, Jesus watched over me in my grief

I’ve always been so proud of my father;

he was so very talented.

Note - on Saturday, December 10, 2017, my step-Mom, Liz, called me to give me the news my 96 year-old father had died at 11:11 a.m. That is why you didn’t see me on WordChimes, plus the fact, Louis Gander was without the internet, so he didn’t get my email. All has been fixed now and your poems have been approved.

About the Poet
Michelle Angelini, aka Chelle, has been writing poetry for over 40 years. She has been published in many Southern California chapbooks and calendars. I am retired and dealing with my health issues. My Saviour, Jesus is always with me. God holds me within His wings. I am working slowly on a second book poetry and possibly my photography. And, I'm over 65 now and still loving it, even though my social life is not what it once was because of the painful fibromyalgia. It's quite frustrating, but I know Jesus still has "work" for me to do to show how much He blesses me.
