This Cross, This Sinner

This Cross, This Sinner

“Love so amazing, so divine demands my soul, my life, my all.”

Isaac Watts - “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”

This moment, Lord, so tragically beautiful

is also one of the loneliest in history

My sins nailed you to this Cross

As you bore the full weight of my imperfections

How my heart breaks knowing

how much you loved me

How my heart breaks that I barely

understand the pain of the nails

in Your hands and feet

How my heart breaks realizing

that you struggled for breath

in your last moments

How my heart breaks as I fall

short of you in my devotion.

Lord, accept this sinner as Your Child

Cover me with gentle wings

knowing I will never be without sin

yet, Christ loves me without reservation.

It is because I could not have done what Christ did

that He bore the pain and loneliness of This Cross

It is because of a love so infinitely perfect

that I confess my sins to my Savior

It is because Christ Jesus accepts this broken

me and makes me whole with His Love

It is because of all of this that This Sinner

wants to be Christ’s Child.

You are my God and my Savior

My praise is brought to You each day

Even in the darkest night, You are with me

And my Friend is with me through the saddest days.

Christ Jesus owns my heart and soul wonderfully and truly

Lord, I am Yours.

About the Poet
Michelle Angelini, aka Chelle, has been writing poetry for over 40 years. She has been published in many Southern California chapbooks and calendars. I am retired and dealing with my health issues. My Saviour, Jesus is always with me. God holds me within His wings. I am working slowly on a second book poetry and possibly my photography. And, I'm over 65 now and still loving it, even though my social life is not what it once was because of the painful fibromyalgia. It's quite frustrating, but I know Jesus still has "work" for me to do to show how much He blesses me.
