Dear Shakespeare, I'm really not sure. Yet, it seems the writing bug bit me And I've heard there is no cure! I could take a chance; write a steamy romance. (But love stories make me cry.) I could, like Ray Bradbury, write a clever sci-fi! (But that's alien to me, so I guess I won't try.) An edge-of-your-seat thriller, a la Stephen King? (No! My nightmares don't have that diabolical ring.) Perhaps a good mystery, just like Agatha Christie! (But I haven't a clue, so what good would that do?) "A poem as lovely as a tree" Could never be penned by the likes of me! Just some sing-songy, ring-rhymey lines will suffice- And they'll be mine! Yes, ALL MINE!! (Now, won't that be nice?) You know, I trust, that write, I must! Mr. Kipling, I'll surely try To "fill the unforgiving minute" Before life passes me by! A Wannabe Writer (c)1997 Carol Barron-Karajohn |
