Sunday, March 2, 2014,P> GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own. understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord Said) 4 "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." - Isaiah 46:4(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Too many Christians are no longer fishers of men but keepers of the aquarium. - Paul Harvey -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A good leader is one who knows the way, shows the way, and goes the way. - From Our Daily Bread -
Don't drive as if you own the road; drive as if you owned the car. - From Reminisce Magazine -
May God lead you to the place where trust leaves no room for worry, and hope lifts you above every care. - From Prayers & Blessings -
NOTES:
Today has been a bitterly cold day. The day started with light freezing rain early this morning. The light rain turned to sleet and it sleeted off and on most of the day. I think the high temperature was only 21 degrees. The sleet is much better than freezing rain. At present it is 16 degrees. We may get some snow later in the night but the precipitation is supposed to quit by morning but it will be another bitterly cold day tomorrow. I may not go out at all tomorrow. Church was canceled today. Since I started attending church regularly in 1953 when I was 28 years of age I don't think that I ever remember a winter that we had to cancel so many church services like we have had to do this year. I rested off and on until around 1:30 p.m. today and I have been here in the den since that time. Thanks to everyone who writes emails and thanks to everyone who reads the Good Things.
The cats are all inside at present and have been most of the day. If a cat went outside it was only for a few minutes and then they came back inside. Even Lucy, the former stray, has been inside today and is still inside sleeping on a chest in one of the bedrooms. Emmy, Leo and Rascal are here in the den with me. Emmy is asleep on the back of the sofa, Leo is asleep on the floor and Rascal is asleep in the recliner chair.
Have a nice Monday if weather permits wherever you live.
Everett.

Good Things
Saturday, March 1, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. - Romans 12:11-13(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
10 He (Jesus) died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Loyalty to Jesus is an act of worship that expresses our loving gratitude for His love toward us. - Joe Stowell -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Our worship is right only when we are right with God and with others. - From Our Daily Bread -
The best way to succeed in life is to act on the advice we give to others. - From Reminisce Magazine -
There may be a beautiful valley over the hill, but you must climb the hill to see it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 63 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I stopped by Country Mart for a few items. I went by the post office and picked up my mail. I was still a little tired from yesterday so I took a long nap this afternoon. I think Smokey and Tony were with me part of the time. I put food and treats outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks to everyone who reads the Good Things. I have a prayer request which I will share in the next paragraph.
Bill Derichsweiler is a good friend to Charley and me. He has lunch with us several times a week. Bill has cancer in one of his kidneys and will lose all use to that kidney. He also has a kidney disease so it is going to be difficult for Bill to get along on just one kidney. Would you please pray for Bill? He is around 77 years of age. He is always helping people, mainly senior citizens, with out charge. He installed the window air conditioner here in my den and all the money he would take is that I bought his lunch one day. Bill really needs our prayers at this time in his life.
The cats are fine. Lucy is lying in the floor here in the den. Leo and Rascal are both on a desk near me. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a Wonderful Sunday! Everett.
