THE DAY YOU CAME
Afraid, alone, quite down and out So sad, most days I’d cry I’d lived this way, so plagued with doubt I’d often wished to die But when You came, when darkness fled Your Light made true love mine Such peace great joy when we were wed Seeing our lives entwine I sang, I danced, I knelt in prayer You severed; Satan’s ties When chains fell off, whilst sitting there This child; began to rise To sights, beyond my wildest dreams Suspended in mid air I felt Your power flow in streams A foot above my chair Plainly I heard Your voice on high “Today! You’re born anew” You know my God I tell no lie These words of mine are true You shared with me Your living word How warm was Your embrace When in my room, I felt and heard Your Wind sweep round my face I’d never heard, Your voice before I’d never felt such love But when I opened wide my door You came and gave Life’s Dove My Saviour reigns inside of me I feel my Master’s hand Cleansing my soul keeping me free Until Your Promised Land.....July 10, 2011
Nan's Calendar
by Nan Forehand, Statesville, NCYou have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this world's happiness now. How? By giving a few words of sincere appreciation to someone who is lonely or discouraged. Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today, but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime. from the writings of Dale Carnegie
I just learned of Mr. Carnegie this past week and didn't know anything about him. Then, much to my surprise, I came across two copies of one of his books in the Goodwill store! The quote above came from another book Dale Carnegie's Scrapbook A Treasury of the Wisdom of the Ages. How amazing is that! Another example of God's timing is always perfect!! I'm so excited to get more into the book! I'm sure you will enjoy more great quotes as I come across them. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!
Love, Nan

Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OK GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 11 "Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others." - 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
28 And now, dear children, continue in him (Jesus), so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. - 1 John 2:28(New International Veraion).
A QUOTE
Someday you will read in the papers that Moody is dead. Don't believe it! At that moment I will be more alive than the men who carry my body to the grave. - Dwight L. Moody -

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 99 degrees. Low temperature this morning was 75 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I came by the post office to pick up my mail. The rest of the day I have been inside in the cool. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey. This evening I put out fresh food and water in the back yard and storage house for any animals that might come along. I also watered two trees. I had some comments on the pictures that I send so I will continue with them. I had comments and requests for more pictures from Hawaii. The picture tonight is June and Keith's house in Hawaii. They bought that house while they were in Hawaii during the winter months. The cats are fine. Each one has a different way of showing their love for me. Beau will sometimes give me a love bite and will sometimes join me in bed and wants to be touching me while he rests or sleeps. Friendly will come to me and nuzzle me but doesn't sleep with me. Itty Bitty will nuzzle me and use her paws to turkey tread on me. Leo doesn't show much attention except once in a while and he also likes to give love bites. Little Girl stays in the den and when I am in the recliner lying back and relaxing she will come and lie on my chest and purr. Rascal shows his love in so many different ways, lying on the desk near me in the den, getting in my lap and sleeping occasionally and snuggling close to me after we go to bed at night. Smokey likes to sit near me on a tv tray and just look at me and want me to pet him. He sleeps with me quite often but he doesn't snuggle. It appears that Emmy may have found a new home. I haven't seen her in two or three days. She had been coming in only occasionally in the past month. I feel like she must be getting food somewhere else so I will just let her do as she pleases. The cats are staying in more during the hot weather. At 10:05 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 87 degrees. I will see you next time.

Daily Jewel
by Pastor J.T. Carnell, McAlester, OK“A Chance Encounter”
“You’re blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom, when you make friends with Madame Insight." – Proverbs 3:13 (The Message)
I remember several years ago a commercial for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cupsã. A man was walking down the street eating a chocolate bar while another man was eating peanut butter out of jar. Being absorbed in their own self-indulgence they did not see each other until they collided with each other. The one man’s chocolate ended up in the jar of peanut butter. If you remember the line, “You got peanut butter on my chocolate!” The other exclaimed, “You got chocolate on my peanut butter!” Then low and behold – a masterpiece was created! One that I rather enjoy myself! In another chance meeting, Jesus met a young fisherman by the name of Andrew who in turn found his brother, Simon, whom he introduced to Jesus. (John 1:40) This encounter would not only change Simon’s life, the man we know as Peter, but it would be the beginning of the movement that would change the world. I love the language of this verse from The Message. It says we are “blessed” when we meet “Wisdom.” Our lives are enriched and complete when both the heart and the mind of the Living God enter in. The very purpose of our existence takes on a new meaning when we allow Christ the opportunity to lead us. I remember my freshman year in college during that first week known as “initiation” week. Several of us were together and I overheard one guy state, “I am going to find the popular group and get in with them. I plan to make a name for myself while I am here.” He did and was class vice-president in his senior year. But that kind of fame is fleeting and from what I have gathered from my classmates, his life has been less than productive since. There was a scientist who thought religion was nonsense. He began having health problems, which led to some serious financial problems which in turn led to problems within his home. Many of his experiments failed. One day he made a pilgrimage to a shrine – mostly to get away from his troubles at work and at home. At the shrine he said to himself, "If I were not an agnostic, I might experiment with this superstition of religion." After convincing himself that he was going through the motions out of idle curiosity, he began the ritual. Halfway through, he thought, "If this were not folly, what would I pray for? Health? Money?" He continued the ritual, then suddenly he cried, "O God, I beg you. Enlighten my mind so I may invent something great to further our human knowledge!" Amazed, the scientist stood in a stunned silence. For the first time he realized what his true desires and motives were and for the first time he acknowledged that it was only through God that those motives could be achieved. Knowing this at last, Galileo began experiments which led to the invention of the telescope. People search for years trying to "find themselves" when they could same time and heartache by seeking God! Like Galileo, once they find the Lord they will truly find themselves! God says, “Find Me. Get involved with Me! You will not regret it.”

Nan's Calendar
by Nan Forehand, Statesville, NCOnce in a long while I will come across a simple statement that speaks to me in a lot of ways. We learn best by repetition, I think. I'm excited as I sit here typing this message, simply because the sentence I'm about to share with you is a powerful one. I use the method of particular repetition as a learning tool. I hope you get as much from it as I did this morning when I discovered it. As you read the bold, all caps word in each sentence use your most powerful, most confident voice and make sure your tone is a positive one. Say each sentence out loud and with conviction. I think it's best to consciously read the words slowly and take your time with each word as you say it. Remember that even though you see the words in bold and all caps, I'm not yelling at you and you aren't yelling the words.
CHANGING your mind is changing your RELATIONSHIPS. Changing YOUR mind is changing YOUR relationships. Changing your MIND is changing your relationships. Changing your mind IS changing your relationships. CHANGING your MIND is CHANGING your relationships. Changing YOUR mind is changing YOUR relationships. CHANGING YOUR MIND IS CHANGING YOUR RELATIONSHIPs.
Changing your mind is your choice.
Life is all about relationships. Since we all know we can't change other people, we can change our own thoughts about them. When we change our thoughts about them and think of them more lovingly, they become more lovable, simply because we allowed our thoughts about them to change. God doesn't make mistakes. He created every living creature on earth and He saw beauty in each one upon its creation. There is positive energy in beauty and negative energy in ugliness. You've seen or heard something beautiful and you know how you felt at the time. You felt positive energy. You've seen or heard something ugly and you know how you felt at that time. You felt a negative energy. Find the beauty in each person you meet and as you do, this positive energy over rules the possibility of negative energy. Being exposed to chronic negativity can be deadly. I think of it as a cancer of the mind. There is a cure for this type of cancer. By changing your negative thoughts to positive ones, you are protecting your mind from cancerous thoughts that can become cancer of the mind. Remember, everything in creation began as a thought. I thank God for His beautiful, creative, positive thoughts. Think beautiful, creative, positive thoughts. If I didn't think beautiful, creative, positive thoughts, you wouldn't be reading this message.
I love you. Nan
