God's Love

God's Love

Houses are lined in meticulous rows
where blackberry fields were covered in snow,
airports, buses and automobiles
hush the meadowlarks morning trills.
Streetlights, billboards, and buildings of steel
replace the forests that shelter the deer,
the beggar begs and musicians play
lovers stroll beneath a starry May.
The ocean is bright with the Texas moon
oil rigs shimmer off the coast at noon,
sapphires adorn a tycoon’s fame
the love of God is eternally the same.
