Visions from Above

Visions From Above

Sometimes we entertain angels unaware,
hollow faces lost in despair,
humbled, beat down to the dust of the earth,
eyes of hopelessness unloved from birth.

So easy to turn away from the pain
and walk quickly, away from the rain
Of thoughts whispered into the air
to help, to love, in compassionate care.

Far too busy in our scurrying about
to catch the tears of the wordless shout,
ringing like cathedrals from a distant land
pleading with frail and skeletal hands.

A candle burns in the windows soul
flickering, a shadow in the winters glow,
seeking to light the darkened night
and open the sight of homeless plight.

Angels can appear in any form
gracing a door in the fiercest storm,
tattered and torn with nothing to give
but a chance to help another to live.
