GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said to His disciples) “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:1-5(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said to His disciples) 12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!" - John 14:12-14(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been a cloudy day in Moore, Oklahoma, with high temperatures in the mid forties. I attended church this morning. I will give a summary of our Worship Service in a separate paragraph. The reason I give a summary of our Worship Service is because some people like to hear about it and also it might encourage someone to attend church who is not now attending. Attend the church denomination of your choice as long as they stay true to and obey the Word of God, the Bible. I attend Southpointe Church of The Nazarene. My daughter, Treva, was visiting in my home until 2:00 p.m. today. She left for her home in Topeka, Kansas. I just heard from her and she made it home safely and it is snowing in Topeka. My son, Ron, and wife, Angie, also visited this afternoon. They went home about 2:25 p.m. shortly after Treva left. Ron and wife live in Oklahoma City. I would like to welcome a new couple to the Good Things, Gilbert and Carol Hockett. They attend the church that I attend.
The cats are fine. For those who don't know, I have nine cats. My cats have been such a comfort to me since my dear wife, Flonnie, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2008. She and I and our three kids have loved cats and also dogs every since Flonnie and I were married. Flonnie and I were married for 61 years and 9 months and I have been missing her so much recently and I long to go join her as soon as the Lord is ready for me to come to our Eternal Home. I tell Flonnie every night that I will join her when the Lord is ready for me to come home. Until then I will take care of the cats. When I can no longer care for the cats my children will see that they are taken care of. Each cat has a different personality and each one loves me. If you ever get tired of hearing about me write about my dear wife, Flonnie, and my cats, you can always delete my e-mails or tell me to drop you from the e-mail list.
Here is the summary of our Worship Service this morning:
Our Worship Service opened with the congregation singing "Come Into His Presence." Gilbert Hockett leads the singing with Doug Gulley on the piano and Carol Hockett on the organ. Pastor Doug Vernier gave the Welcome and Announcements. The Praise and Worship songs sung this morning were "Oh Come All You Faithful", "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You", "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" and "Away In A Manager." The prayer chorus was titled "Holy Ground." Pastor Doug led in prayer. While the offering was being taken the musicains played "Go Tell It On The Mountain". A special song was sung by Donna Gee titled "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day." Pastor Doug's message was titled "Nevertheless" with Scripture from Isaiah 9:1-6. After the message two more songs were sung titled "His Name Is Wonderful" and "Oh Come Let Us Adore Him." The Altar was open for seekers during the songs but no one went to the Altar.
At 7:45 p.m. skies are cloudy with a temperature of 43 degrees. My cat named Beau is asleep in my computer chair. I will see you next time.

NOTES
Well, I said last night that there might not be Good Things tonight but here I am. My daughter, Treva, my son, Ron and I went to McAlester, Oklahoma today. We went to place some pretty red roses on Flonnie's grave for Christmas. The marker at her grave also has my name on it and there is a space right beside Flonnie for me when I pass on. We had lunch at Taco Bob's Fiesta Grill with my brother, Charles, who lost his wife, Clariece, about a month ago. After lunch we stopped by Charles' house for a few minutes and then on to Memory Gardens where Flonnie is buried. After placing the flowers on the marker at Flonnie's grave we went on to Clariece's grave. She is also buried in Memory Gardens. We arrived back home around 6:00 p.m. The day has been sunny with temperatures in the forties.
The cats are fine. They had to stay inside while we were gone and were ready to go out for a while when we got home. They are now back inside. Beau and Friendly are in the computer chair and Smokey is sleeping on a desk here in the study.
At 9:25 p.m. skies are partly cloudy with a temperature of 36 degrees. Have a Blessed Sunday and I will see you next time.
In sincere Christian Love, Everett.

GOD SPEAKS TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 10 "When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love." - John 15:10(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!" - Luke 2:8-11(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper thirties. I had lunch at home. My daughter, Treva, arrived about 3:00 p.m. from Topeka, Kansas. I went to the post office to mail some letters. Treva and I went to Hobby Lobby to buy Christmas flowers. We then ate our evening meal at Boomerang. We then went by Crest Food Store. There is a strong possibility that there will not be Good Things tomorrow night so don't be concerned.
The cats are fine, staying in most of the time due to cold weather. Friendly is asleep in my computer chair.
At 8:50 p.m. skies are clear with a temperature of 27 degrees. I will see you next time.
In sincere Christian Love, Everett.

Subject: Little Cabin on the Takotna
We made a trip in the boat to McGrath on Thursday, October 15. It was 42* that day, so we thought it would still be another week before the river would be freezing. In fact, it was 39* on the 16th and 42* on the 17th. The nights were getting down to 25*. Steve planned to make the last trip to town on Monday the 19th. Well, when he looked at the river on Sunday morning the 18th, there were small pans of ice floating down it. By five o’clock that afternoon, 40% of the river was covered in ice.
On Monday morning he went to the riverbank at 9 o’clock to see if he could still get to town. The river was 70% covered, so the trip was off. Thus began our time of freeze-up, as it is called around here. It all happened fast. Next year we will know that if there is any ice, we’d better go to town then!
We had 31 gallons of drinking water stored up, and ice from the river to melt and filter for the dish-washing. Food, shelter, wood for heat and lots of books to read insured we could make it for the weeks we would be without a way to get to town.
The wildlife gave us wonderful entertainment during this time. We had several days of moose on parade. First, a bull would come through, then later a cow and calf, then another bull. We had one cow and calf that came through every few days.
One morning we heard a bawling sound. A small, young bull was in front of the house walking along, calling a cow. Later, the cow and calf came through and stood just to the left of our house eating birch branches. They would nuzzle each other’s noses, then go back to eating. A bull came out of the trees and joined them. We thought the cow would run him off, but she didn’t. The calf stayed close to mom, though. Eventually they walked on the path right in front of the house. It was so amazing to see. The cow kept looking at us as we stood in front of the window.
Later that day, Steve walked up the boundary trail of our property to throw out potato peels. All three of the moose were standing on the trail. They didn’t move or even flinch when he got close. So he greeted them with, “Well, hello!” They continued to stand and stare at him. We have really enjoyed learning the reactions of the moose.
We didn’t get any snow until November 9. That was unusual. Once the river freezes, it will usually snow not long after. That kept us from being able to go anywhere on the snow machine.
Steve had several piles of wood cut among the trees, but we were waiting for snow to haul them to the house. Last May the wind blew 65 mph one day, and many trees blew down. That gave us lots of dead and down wood to burn.
We now have about a foot of snow, so we’re enjoying running around on the snow machine. Steve has made several different trails through the woods to cut across the land and not have to travel on the river. That makes trips to town shorter. The river is extremely winding.
Christmas will soon be here. We hope you all remember the true meaning of Christmas, and don’t get caught up in the hustle and bustle. Living out here in the solitude has helped me be more thankful than ever for all His blessings to me.

4 Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.

NOTES
Today started with clear skies and became partly cloudy this afternoon. High temperatures were near 40 degrees. I had lunch at home. This afternoon I took my van to Bob Moore Ford for a service job and a few other things. Otherwise it has been a quiet day. I walked through the back yard this morning and the weather was pretty cool.
The cats are fine. They stay inside a lot since the weather is cooler. Rascal has been snuggling with me when I take my nap in the afternoon. I think he can sense that I have been feeling a little sad the past few days. Right now Itty Bitty is lying in a chair here in my study and Rascal is lying on the floor. I did get the computer chair tonight.
At 7:35 p.m. skies are partly cloudy with a temperature of 29 degrees. I will see you next time.
In sincere Christian Love, Everett.
