As olive trees gave of their oil, Supplying candles that in bowls did lie In candlesticks set on high To help priests in their priestly toil, As the candles give men light So the Gospel gives men sight.
Lies the power within the Gospel Of salvation for all men, The victorious Christ shall win And overwhelm all forces hostile, Through His Spirit halt Death's rattle, Through His Spirit bring the battle.
Not by might of sword and shield, (No surprise or wonderment), Not by power of government Shall Satanic forces yield. Might and power will they defeat If that is all with men they meet.
"By My spirit," says the Lord, "You are strong to meet the foe 'By My Spirit here below 'Be victorious through My Word. 'In the war with hell and sin 'By My Spirit you must win!"
