The Blame Game

When did it become the norm
To call a sin an ?error??
We understate a crime of hate
And brutal acts of terror.

These days a lack of self-control
Is listed as ?disease?
We coddle, nudge and try to help
With all our ?expertise?

At any rate, we medicate
And place the blame on others
A brother, sister, dad or friend
And even our own mothers.

?Oh, woe is me? they say as they
Are led into the court
?My early life was filled with strife,
I had no real support!?

How I wish that some would plea
?I?m guilty, I admit it!?
And hang their head in solemn shame
Because we know they did it!

The Blame Game (c)2001 Anne Braud
