Ask what they can do for us,
but what we can do for them

Ask why some didn't go,
but why we didn't acknowledge the ones that did

Ask why we left them in the lurch,
then went crying to our church

Ask why when the fourth comes,
we wave our flags, sing a chorus or two
of My Country tis of Thee,
when on other days we trash the One
that made us free

Most of all,
forget to bow our knees on this glorious day,
giving thanks to the One that had to pay
