This poem was inspired by a Christmas card that depicted a child with a sled making their way home on Christmas Eve after spending the day with friends and playing in the snow. Christmas Memories A picture...evoking childhood memories of long ago, invoking words, not yet spoken. Words of images, too deep to remain silent, yet is the very silence of the image that speaks to the heart.
Snow falling lightly, so pure and so white, painting the landscape to our delight. Bundled up warmly on this cold winter's night and engaging with friends in a snowball fight. Such laughter and fun, such a joy to remember, going sledding and making snowmen in this wintry December. We hear carolers in the distance, perhaps four or more, singing heartfelt songs as they go door-to door. I see a brightly llt house from the road just ahead. It is Christmas Eve and it's time for bed. I say goodnight to my friends, for my home beckons me with warmth and hot cocoa and family! Tomorrow, there'll be presents under the tree!
How sweet are the memories, I share happily. |
