Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OK GOOD THINGS Tuesday, May 31, 2011 GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD 24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. 25 Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. 26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants. - 2 Timothy 2:24-26(New Living Translation). GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD 7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. - 1 John 1:7(New Living Translation). A QUOTE A friend is one who follows through with what he or she says. - Glenda Hotton, M.A. - THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER Let us strive to truly pray "in the name of Jesus" and not just tack His name at the end as if it were magic. - From Reflecting God - The darkest night that ever fell on Earth never put out the stars. - From Reminisce Magazine - When your reputation breaks down, there is no place to go for spare parts. - From Reminisce Magazine - NOTES Today has been a partly cloudy day with a high temperature of 87 degrees. Low temperature this morning was 73 degrees. I had lunch today with my three children, Treva, June and Ron. Also, Charley and Bill also ate with us. We have had a good time the past three days. My three children came Saturday afternoon. We had our Saturday evening meal at Western Sizzling Steak House. Sunday Afternoon we went to Glory Cemetery near Holdenville lake to decorate Flonnie's mother's and dad's graves. Monday my grandson, Chris (Ron's son) and wife, Nancy, with their four children, Holly, Nick, Jon and Jaimie, came to visit from Yukon, Oklahoma. We visited Flonnie's grave Monday afternoon. We made several pictures and I will show many of them in the Good Things. Treva and her dog, Libby, left for home in Topeka, Kansas, about 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. I heard from her a little while ago and she had made it home safely. June and Ron left for home in Oklahoma City and Yukon about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon and I heard from them also that they had made it home safely. I am a little tired but we had a wonderful week-end. All that was missing was one person and I know most of you know who that is. The picture tonight from left to right, Jaimie(Age 4), Jon(Age 12), Holly(age 15), Nick(Age 12) and Treva arranging the flowers at Flonnie's grave. I would like to welcome Jackie and Tiyan Martin to the Good Things. They live in Tulsa. I would also like to welcome Bill and Dayna Robinson who live at Holdenville, Oklahoma and publish the weekly newspaper "Holdenville Tribune" to which I subscribe. The cats were hiding a lot of the time while I had company. They are used to living with one old man and don't know how to take so much company. They did come out a lot while we would sit and visit in the back yard. Little Girl stayed out in back in a large catalpa tree which has many large limbs to rest on. She is on the couch at present and Rascal is outside with the other cats. Leo has been here in the den a lot this evening. At 10:20 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 77 degrees. I will see you next time. In Christian Love, Everett.Submit Your Comment
