GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.  - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD

22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.  - Ephesians 1:22-23(New Living Translation).

NOTES

Today has been mostly sunny with high temperatures in the mid forties.  Today I had lunch with Charley(my brother), Bill(a friend), Bryant(my grandson, Treva'a son), Ashley(Bryant's wife) and Treva(my daughter).  We have had an enjoyable time the past few days.  Treva came last Thursday(Christmas Eve), Ron(my son) and wife Angie came Christmas Day about noontime.  Bryant and Ashley arrived on Saturday night.  We had an enjoyable time visiting all day Sunday.  We all went to the cemetery on Sunday afternoon.  Ron and Angie went home to Oklahoma City about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.  Treva, Bryant and Ashley left this afternoon between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.  Bryant and Ashley stopped in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, about 50 miles from McAlester to visit relatives until Wednesday, then they will go on to Topeka, Kansas.  Bryant and Ashley have a baby due in June, 2011, but it is too early to know if it will be a boy or girl.  Treva called a little while ago and had arrived home safe and sound in Topeka.  Bryant and Ashley live in Ithaca, N. Y. and will fly home after New Years.  As I said it was an enjoyable week-end.  The only one missing was my dear Flonnie and I thought of her quite often during the week end and would have to secretly shed some tears but my consolation is that one of these days I will join her in Heaven.  The weather this Christmas was much different than last year when I was snowed in at Moore, Oklahoma and spent the day by myself.  I received lots of gifts this year, many more than I deserved.  The picture tonight is Emmy.

The cats are fine.  Treva brought her bull dog that stayed in her room most of the time except to go outside occasionally.  My cats spent most of their time on the back porch and outside but tonight they have moved back into the house.  Rascal, Beau and Itty Bitty did come in last night after I went to bed and slept with me.

At 10:00 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 33 degrees.  I will see you next time.

In Christian Love, Everett.
