An Aging Mother

An Aging Mother

Last night, I received a phone call,
From my mother nearing eighty years old.
She lamented,
Son, I am not doing well at all--
I am just not sure how much further I can go.

Your father and I are not very well,
Our aging and aching bodies,
Seem more like strong enemies
Than long-time friends,
With much sorrow, I must now tell.

Over these eighty years of a blessed life,
I have taught you to love God and walk the right way.
Now, as I begin to close my life with a sigh,
For your father and I, Son, I plead
Remember us each day and pray, pray, pray!
