The Shadow of 9 /11
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

Two jet airliners flew,
Into the World Trade Center Towers;
Another airliner crashed,
Into the impenetrable Defense Pentagon.
Right before our very eyes,
We saw the display of evil's awesome power;
And a new tragic chapter,
In American History had sadly begun.

As the shadow of 9/11,
Spreads over all the arenas of our life;
We are daily faced,
With continuous decisions of what to do.
Trying to discern,
What is wrong, what is fair, what is right;
Yet, the shadow of 9/11,
Continues to broaden like an old worn-out shoe.

The shadow of 9/11,
Has lengthened itself over these past 365 days;
Soon the sun will rise,
On another challenging and memorable 9/11.
Even with the birth of a new 9/11,
We must continue to fight the terrorists' evil ways;
Dispelling this ever haunting shadow --
Placing our faith and trust in the sovereignty of heaven.

Faith not fear,
Hope not despair,
Love not hate,
Is the Golden Rule of our troubled times.
Only this blessed trinity of virtues,
Can displace this ever growing shadow of 9/11;
Giving us a glorious victory over evil,
Letting freedom's sunshine,
Once again brightly shine.
