The Sea of Galilee

The Sea of Galilee

The Sea of Galilee was a treasured place
in the heart of our Lord,
No one really knows how many miles his blessed feet
walked along its blissful shore.

Night after night, from its deep blue waters
the disciples continually fished,
From a boat in these waters, to the land along
its shores, Jesus with authority did daily teach.

The Sea birthed in Jesus the committed heart
of a strong heroic fisherman,
Catching not only tilapia* but the hearts of boys,
girls, women and the souls of all men.

Walking upon this silver sheet of water, Jesus
did many miracles in and around this breathtaking sea,
What a legacy of faith, hope and courage, He
has left to you, our world and to me.

I may not ever get to visit this magnificent sea,
sometimes called a freshwater lake,
Yet, through my Lord's own witness, its inspiration
and strength, my soul will gladly take!

So, my companion in poetry, take a walk along this sea's
sandy beach with our most blessed and loving Lord,
Open your New Testaments and read, and enjoy this
life changing walk along the Sea of Galilee's most
majestic shore.

*A freshwater fish found in the Middle East and Africa.
