School Bells Ring Again!

School Bells Ring Again

Good news is not often heard these days,
Why, one wonders,
Maybe we have lost our way.
Bring back the days when school's honored God,
Not the modern day moment of silence
Or fashionable sleepy head nods.

As our children and youth go back to school,
Reading, Writing and Arithmetic
Are their common tools.
Yet, one important tool,
Is missing from their daily tune,
Character education from the Ten Commandments--
O may it return again to our schools soon.

School bells, School bells, School bells,
Hear them ring aloud,
Sadly, for so many, it will not be bright sunshine,
But more like a darkening cloud.
In public, private, or Christian,
Our prayers are the key.
Let school bells ring again,
Hopefully with dignity and blessing
Like they did for me!
